The little red plastic barrette is long gone but there was a time when it sat on my son’s dresser and when the spirit moved him, would be clipped into his curly blonde hair.

It’s when we don’t decide to get something done within a certain amount of time that it doesn’t get done.

I’m preparing for jet lag this month and not because I’m going on a wonderful adventure to another time zone. 

When it comes to more fundamental questions of ethics, morality, faith, and belief,  I want to encourage my kids to explore these things for themselves.

It's one of the great cliches that children grow up too fast and that you need to enjoy each stage while you can, but being cliche doesn't make it any easier to practise some times.

My oldest son takes his fandom very seriously. When his teams win, he's jubilant. When this teams lose, he's crushed.

My kids don't seem to have any idea how easy our lives really are in comparison to most people in the world today and throughout the course of history.
