Extreme clowning
AGA-BOOM (Bluma Appel) — This award-winning show has been around the world, and makes a Toronto stop this holiday season. Created by veterans of Cirque du Soleil, it combines European clowning, stunts and plenty of slapstick and physical comedy. The name of the show is a play on the Russian word boomaga, which means paper. Paper provides some of the thematic material for the show: there’s a piece stuck to someone’s hand and a paper fight. From there, there’s total chaos with juggling suitcases and inflated garbage bags. The show involves audience participation and is suitable for kids as well as adults. The show runs from December 30 to January 3 at the Bluma Appel Theatre. Tickets are $39, $49 and $65. Tickets available through Ticketmaster or the box office at 416-366-7723.
