PK Lodge Muskoka welcomes families for blissful summer vacations

“We believe the best Muskoka memories are still made the old-fashioned way,” explains general manager Melissa Whittle, “through unhurried vacation days, campfires under starlit skies, mornings that begin with coffee overlooking the water, and evenings spent together without watching the clock.”

PK Lodge boasts almost three dozen cottages of various sizes and price points. We stayed at The Abbys, beautiful and spacious, two-storey units that comfortably sleep ten, making them ideal for extended families. Also ideal is the location – just steps from the shoreline and soothing views of the Muskoka River. Retire at night to the sight of beavers casually swimming past and wake the next day to a peaceful misty morning and water as smooth as glass.

One of the principal appeals of any cottage country resort is the lure of the lake. It calls to us, siren-like. PK Lodge Muskoka doesn’t disappoint. The resort features a wonderful sandy beach with shallows that ever-so gently slope away from shore, offering peace of mind for parents and countless hours of fun for kids. The restaurant patio nestles up against the beach so parents can sip or dine in comfort while children frolic just feet away.

And you will want to linger on the patio, because the food is excellent and the menu perfect for dining in sun-soaked day. Every dish comes with a side of summer. Think Muskoka berry harvest salads, Mediterranean wraps, and BBQ ribs. The Kid’s Menu is a true kid’s menu, with grilled cheese and pasta and burgers, so one doesn’t need to argue with children to try something out of the box.

Be certain to book a scenic excursion aboard an Amped Watersports boat, which takes you to Muskoka’s infamous Millionaires Row, a stretch renowned for its lavish turn-of-the century cottages and modern celebrity-built mansions. The craft are fully electric and zero emission, so you can feel good about the decision as the wind ruffles your hair and the cottages of the rich and famous zip past. Amped Watersports also offer jet skis rentals, as well as e-foil and wake boarding lessons.

Other amenities at PK include playground equipment, an inground pool (great for children who perhaps have never swam in a lake before and are hesitant to take the plunge), and the use of canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards.
If you can pull your kids away from the water, Santa’s Village is a mere stone’s throw away. The theme park is holly-jolly fun at any time of year.

“At PK Lodge Muskoka, we believe those moments matter,” says Whittle. “They’re the memories that stay with us long after the vacation ends and the stories retold around future campfires, the laughter remembered years later, and the traditions that bring families back, generation after generation.”

Summer at PK isn’t just a season – it’s a tradition dating back almost a century.
