Jack’s House and Emperor’s Threads on stage
The House That Jack Built (Suitcase Theatre/Church of the Redeemer) — Puppetry, masks, songs and live actors take a simple nursery rhyme and turn it into a lively musical tale for kids from ages three and up. The story involves the Maiden All Forlorn, the Cow with the Crumpled Horn and the Priest All Shaven and Shorn, who are living in a drought-ridden, falling-down town when the Man All Tattered and Torn arrives full of promise to save them. But that would get in the way of his wandering ways. The musical runs from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21 at 3 pm the Church of the Redeemer, 162 Bloor Street West. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for kids and seniors, or go for the $50 family package, which admits two adults and two children. For tickets and information call 416-913-3992.
The Emperor’s New Threads (Lorraine Kimsa) — The emperor loves fashion, but when two tricksters come to town claiming that only those who are “smart and good at their jobs” can see their fabulous new threads, things get interesting. The show features Vancouver’s Axis Theatre Company and its amazing masks and costumes. The show is ideal for kids ages 3-10 and runs from March 15 to 27, two daytime shows daily. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for kids. 416-862-2222, lktyp.ca. The theatre is also running a camp, both full and half day programs from March 16 to 20.
