Use Summer to catch up
The best way to start is to re-read all of your children’s report cards from this year (and beyond). Are there specific suggestions for improvement or review? Do you see any repeated themes or comments? Make a list of the various skills, then prioritize – pick only one or two to focus on improving.
Not sure where to start? Get some support from friends, family, or professionals. Some public libraries offer free tutoring / homework services. Hire a tutor, or book time yourself to help your kids get stronger. Remember that simply practising math or writing, for example, will not necessarily improve understanding.
