Now in its fifth year, Trillium Health Partners Foundation’s annual community event The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health returns Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Port Credit Memorial Park in Mississauga.
Here are some reasons why the walk is a great weekend activity for you and your family:
Pick your distance – everyone is welcome
The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health begins and ends at Mississauga’s Port Credit Memorial Park.
Choose from the leisurely 2 km stroll that’s perfect for families with young children or the scenic 5 km route along the waterfront trail. Whether you’re pushing a stroller, walking hand-in-hand with a toddler or keeping pace with older kids, there’s a route that works for your crew.
Enjoy family-friendly activities in a scenic location
Participants can take part in a fun opening ceremony and guided warm-up with RBC Olympians before setting off on the walk.
After the walk, attendees can enjoy a complimentary festival which includes:
- Delicious lunch options from a series of vendors
- Family-friendly activities to keep everyone celebrating, like inflatable bouncers, face painting, a colouring contest, music and many more 5th anniversary surprises
It supports your local hospital
Proceeds from this year’s walk will support:
- The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, which will be Canada’s largest hospital
- The Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, which is Ontario’s first hospital dedicated to women’s and children’s health
- The redevelopment of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre
As parents, we know how much it matters to have world-class health care close to home – especially when it comes to care for our children and families. That’s exactly what this walking will help build.
Since its launch, The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health has raised more than $1.8 million in support of patient care and hospital redevelopment at Trillium Health Partners. In 2025 alone, the event brought together more than 2,100 participants, including community members, sponsors, volunteers, and health care workers, raising over $440,000.
Trillium Health Partners is one of Canada’s largest hospital systems, serving 2.2 million people across its three sites Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre. Currently serving the largest population in Ontario, the demand for care is projected to grow more at Trillium Health Partners than any other hospital in Ontario over the next 15 years.
It celebrates its fifth anniversary this year
“This fifth anniversary is a powerful milestone for The Hazel McCallion Walk for Health,” says Caroline Riseboro, President and CEO of Trillium Health Partners Foundation. “Hazel McCallion was proud to support Trillium Health Partners through this walk, and we continue this annual tradition to honour her enduring legacy. Every step taken on June 7 represents hope for patients, families, and our entire community. By coming together, participants are helping build a new kind of health care for all that will serve generations to come.”

It’s a wonderful way to teach kids about giving back
Walks like this one are a great opportunity to show your children – in a tangible way – what it means to support your community. When kids participate in events that raise money for local hospitals, they learn that small actions can make a big difference for families in their neighbourhood.
