New educational game feeds hungry minds

Whether you are a parent wanting to make homework less of a chore and more of a fun family routine, or a teacher looking to make a new skill more engaging for the class, the Hungry Minds Study Games box has everything you need for any subject, from Kindergarten to grade 5.

Hungry Minds offers four educational games that have been “classroom tested and kid approved,” says creator Kevin Munn, featuring exciting graphics on quality game pieces and cards, each of which follows a fun island theme, yet is unique in game play, for variety.

Each game comes in its own drawstring sack to keep game pieces, instruction booklets and sticky notes separate.

To play, simply copy questions straight from a text book, homework sheet, or lesson pan and place them on the back of the included game cards, shuffle and play. Or, if you prefer to use printables, secure with the included sticky tack and visit the Hungry Minds website for free subject-specific printable library.

Use the “Wild Reward Cards”, also included, as either customized “Bonus Point” cards for difficult questions or customized “Rewards” for desired skills such as fair play, or most improved.

Players advance through the game by answering questions, reviewing the lesson in the process and making strengths and weaknesses in the subject apparent. Along the way, the Tips Booklet can be used for both for educator ideas and student support.

Games can be saved for next time using the “Study Games Saver”, a booklet that keeps up to 20 past lessons handy and ready for another day of review.

Created in Canada by child and youth worker Munn and social worker Stefanie Rico, the Hungry Minds board game is supported by an online community designed to grow with the players. Find the community, order your game and learn more about Hungry Minds at www.hungrymindsstudygames.com.
