The Sterling Hall School

The Sterling Hall School understands how boys learn best. The school’s focus on learning, character and community ensures that all boys feel a sense of belonging, develop strong character strengths and take pride in their academic learning.

Specializing in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 boys’ education enables Sterling Hall to deliver innovative academic practices and boy-focused programming that foster individual growth, curiosity and a passion for learning. Providing a challenging, leading-edge curriculum complemented by dynamic programs taught by highly dedicated faculty ensures that our boys are engaged in their learning. In the primary years, foundational literacy skills are developed to set the stage for lifelong learning, while a deep understanding and appreciation for math is established using Singapore Math’s Dimensions program. This strengthens critical thinking and problem-solving capacity, building the skills necessary to integrate coding and robotics in math and science. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 7:1, every boy benefits from personalized attention tailored to his unique strengths and needs.

Sterling Hall teachers are experts in relational learning and serve as inspiring mentors to the boys as they explore their interests, build character strengths and develop leadership skills during these formative years. This environment promotes a sense of belonging and fortifies boys with courage and confidence. In turn, this encourages them to take personal risks, both inside and outside the classroom, enabling them to extend themselves and flourish as they realize their untapped potential.

The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing the whole boy, academically, socially and emotionally. Leadership opportunities are woven into the program from JK through Grade 8, along with clubs, athletics and experiential trips, helping students build confidence and character from an early age. A robust wellness program further supports the well-being of the boys, ensuring that social-emotional development and a genuine sense of belonging are inherent aspects of daily school life.

Sterling Hall’s culture is warm and welcoming, with a strong community that enriches the experience of every SHS boy. The small school environment helps to foster relationships, both between boys and teachers, as well as among the boys themselves. It leverages this advantage to adapt and innovate with dexterity and responsiveness. At the same time, it continues to provide relational attention and prioritize each boy’s well-being and growth throughout every stage of his foundational years. Together, these shared values of learning, character and community form the foundation of all Sterling Hall does, making it the school where boys truly belong.
