Tomorrow’s challenges call for an education that goes beyond acquiring knowledge. At Richland Academy students are encouraged to ask questions, draw connections across disciplines and apply their understanding through real-world experiences. Our approach empowers students to be deeper thinkers, confident, and world ready.

Richland Academy is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). The IB framework encourages students to take an active role in their education while developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to become adaptable, collaborative global citizens. Through inquiry-based learning, students are challenged to think through multiple lenses, reflect on their experiences, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Our Reggio-inspired approach complements the IB framework by recognizing students as capable, creative participants in their education. Teachers design environments that invite pursuit of meaningful questions , collaboration, expression of thinking through words, art and music. Beyond the classroom, students participate in athletics, the arts, leadership, service, and a range of co-curricular activities. These experiences allow them to discover new interests, build resilience, and take meaningful actions to bring about change in their communities.

A strong sense of connection is central to life at Richland. Teachers know their students and understand that each learner brings different strengths, interests, and perspectives to the classroom. Families are welcomed as active members of the school, helping create a community where students feel supported, valued, and encouraged to take on new challenges.

Our new Senior Campus in Aurora

In September 2027, 25 years after Richland Academy was founded, our Senior Campus will welcome students in Grades 7–9. In the following years, it will expand to Grades 10–12. Our goal is to obtain authorization for the Diploma Programme (DP) and become an IB Continuum school by 2029. The Senior Campus marks an exciting new chapter for Richland and reflects the school’s ongoing growth and vision for the future.

As Richland continues to evolve, its focus remains clear: creating an environment where young people are nurtured to think critically, communicate effectively, take meaningful risks, and approach challenges with confidence. Within that environment, students are supported and developed to become lifelong learners and well-rounded individuals. They are prepared not only for their next academic milestone, but also for possibilities and life experiences that lie ahead.
