Party on Canada

Canada Day 1

Party on Canada

Canada can’t help that its birthday doesn’t always fall on a Friday or Monday. This year, most of us will have Tuesday, July 1 as the holiday. While it’s not going to be part of a long weekend, there is no less reason to celebrate. Here are some low-budget and fun ways for families to recognize the birth of this great country.

• Bake red and white treats – Get in the spirit and have a red and white themed baking party! Whether you are making cakes, cupcakes or popsicles, stick to red and white colours and try to re-create the Canadian flag!

• Enjoy a Canadian themed picnic – Round up all of your favourite Canadian delicacies and hit the park with a blanket, a basket and a Frisbee for an afternoon of fun.

• Fly a kite – You could get crafty and make your own kite or make an afternoon out of looking for the perfect kite and end the day at the park flying a kite and eating ice cream!

• Make a list and check it twice – Challenge your family to make a list of 50 things they love about Canada!

• Camp out – Whether it’s in your own backyard or at a campsite, spending the night outdoors is always a perfect way to connect with your family.

• Check out your local celebrations. Most municipalities offer entertainment and fireworks for free.
