Write about your breast cancer hero
A serious illness like breast cancer affects not only the patient but her family as well. These women often face the disease in heroic ways that can inspire and sustain their loved ones. Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada is accepting entries for the annual My Hero Contest in which children across Canada whose family has been affected by breast cancer can share inspiring family stories and have a chance to win a financial contribution toward their future education. It’s open children in Canada aged 8 to 12. To enter go to www.BreastCancerHeroes.ca and submit a short essay telling why you consider your family member, who has been affected by breast cancer, as your hero. There’s a national grand prize of $3,000 toward post-secondary education and four regional prizes of $1,500 each will also be awarded regionally across Canada. Enter online and via Canada Post until August 1.
